Description

Hi,

Currently, we use the IBM Integration Bus 10 image to supply high demand traffic. Mainly we use the r4.large instances but sometimes the demand for these types of instances is high and there is no way to launch the new instance so we have to use the m4.large type instance.

Have you ever considered including the M5 and R5 families in the supported instances for this type of image?

Sometimes we also use an image of WebSphere Application Server 8.5.5 which supports the M5 and R5 family and has a better performance than the M4 and R4 instances type

Thanks in advance

Hola Herbert,

I hope you're enjoying our images!

We try to keep our marketplace listings up to date, but as AWS keep creating new instance types very frequently, we sometimes miss some of these new types.

We probably published or updated our WebSphere Application Server images later in time, when these M5 and R5 instance types existed already, that's why they are already supported by these images.

I'm going to update our IBM Integration Bus images to support the latest instance types. It shouldn't take much on our side, but it usually takes a few days to publish depending on the AWS team workload.

I'll keep you posted on this same ticket!

¡Saludos y gracias!

Hola Herbert,

I have been trying to include these M5 and R5 instance type families in our offering, but apparently they need the AMI to be created in a certain way.

Basically, it will take a bit longer than I expected. I will try to have it by this week so including the publication time it shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks.

I'll do my best to have it ASAP and will keep you posted here.

¡Saludos!

Hola Herbert,

You should already be able to use our IBM Integration Bus 10 image with the M5 and R5 instance type families (along with all the newest instance types except for the A1).

Let me know if you need any further assistance with this or feel free to close the ticket, otherwise I'll time it out in a few days time.

Hi,

We have been trying to lunch an existing MidVision IIB 10 instance using M5 or R5 instance type but the only available option is M4 or R4

When we change the instance type to r5.large an error is thrown. The error we got is

Instance ID i-0815df162e0f490ec
Instance Type r5.large
EBS-optimized
An error occurred while trying to change the instance type for this instance
The instance configuration for this AWS Marketplace product is not supported. Please see the AWS Marketplace site for more information about supported instance types, regions, and operating systems.

what can we do?

Thanks is advance

Regards

Hi Herbert,

As you can see here:

https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B01KXB1TI2

The M5 and R5 instance type families are already included as available types.

I tried myself changing an instance type from "r4.large" to "r5.large" and it worked fine.

All I can think of is you used a different AMI to create the instance.

Can you please confirm which AMI you used to create the instance?

Cheers!

Hi Herbert,

I thought you were running the stand alone IBM Integration Bus AMI.

I need to contact the AWS team to update the rest of the AMIs, please stand by and I'll let you know when these AMIs are updated.

Cheers!

Hi Herbert,

I have already submitted a new request to the AWS team to include the latest instance types into all the three IBM Integration Bus 10 AMIs we provide on the AWS Marketplace:

They should be available any time soon, I'll keep you posted.

Cheers!

Hi Herbert,

These two listings should already have the M5 and R5 instance type families enabled:

For the other one:

I need to enable the ENA (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/enhanced-networking-ena.html) and create a new AMI to publish.

When this new AMI is created it will be associated with that listing and you will be able to create new M5 and R5 instances. In the case of upgrading an already existing instance, I think it is a bit tricky, but they told me from AWS it is possible.

I'll prioritise this work and will let you know as soon as this is published.

Cheers!

Hi Herbert,

I have already submitted a new AMI to AWS to enable the M5 and R5 instance type families in this listing:

I hope they don't take much.

It is recommended to use the new AMI to create a new instance of one of the types required, but they told me you can also use your existing instance if you perform some actions to enable ENA (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/enhanced-networking-ena.html).

I'll keep you posted with any information I get.

Cheers!

Rafa
